The heart of the Montessori approach is child-centred and recognises that every child is unique, and develops at their own pace. The materials used in the Montessori curriculum are specifically designed to give children a good foundation for life-long learning. |
PRACTICAL LIFE
The exercises of Practical Life provides the foundation for all other activities in the Montessori classroom.
Through exercises in daily living, the child gains confidence and mastery of his own skills for use in the environment. Control and coordination of movement, the development of concentration - all help to build an independent and responsible child. |
SENSORIAL
A child discovers the world through their senses.
We are equipped with Montessori materials that are specifically designed to make the process of refining the senses more efficient. But the children also have the added benefit of a vast garden filled with natural materials for them to touch, see and smell - a feast for a child’s sensorial development. |
LANGUAGE
The main purpose of language is to let others know what we are thinking by communicating.
Primarily based on a phonetic approach, the early language materials are multi-sensory to enhance the learning process, analyse previous experiences, and generating new ideas. The language approach is also presented through poems & songs, games, and stories. |
MATHS
All humans are born with a mathematical mind i.e. one that is logical with a tendency for perfection and precision.
The Montessori materials provides a solid foundation to understanding numbers and math concepts, before moving them on to more abstract concept of arithmetics. |
CULTURE (OUR WORLD)
Knowledge of the world provides children the opportunity to explore and gain insight into this place they call home.
Through the concept that peace and humanity work together, children are taught to respect and appreciate the interrelationship of all living things. Topics of science, geography, history and biology are introduced. |
ARTS & CREATIVITY
Creativity is not just referred to in its artistic form, but also in the ability to "think out of the box".
We like to give our children the freedom to express themselves. For arts, we aim to expose the children to different methods and techniques, where the focus is on the process, and not so much the end result. |
OUR OUTDOOR CLASSROOM EMPHASIS
|
Nature is the best teacher for young minds.
|
LESSONS FROM NATURE
We believe that all things can be learned within a garden, and that nature provides the best lessons of them all. From edible gardening to interactions with animals, our lessons extend far beyond indoor classroom materials.
|
ENVIRONMENTAL
CONSCIENTIOUSNESS Through connecting with nature from a young age, this helps to inculcate environmental conscientiousness. Children also start to be more aware about where their food comes from.
|
FREEDOM TO EXPLORE
All children should be allowed the freedom to explore and experience a natural environment. Our garden provides a safe space for them to run, dig, explore, discover and play.
